Aviators blanked by Black Bears
ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira Aviators (16-26-3-1) could not find an answer for the Maryland Black Bears’ (30-13-1-2) goaltender, Marko Bilic, losing 2-0 Friday night.
The Aviators and Black Bears played a tight-checking game where both defenses and goaltenders were solid.
For Elmira, Wesley Jefferson Swint II continues to play well, denying 35 of 37 Maryland shots on goal. However, he was slightly upstaged by Maryland’s Marko Bilic.
Friday was Bilic’s seventh appearance for the Black Bears in the NAHL and his third game against Elmira. Bilic was perfect Friday night stopping all 28 Aviators’ shots.
Bilic is now 3-0 against Elmira this season with two shutouts.
The Elmira offense had all different chances, but could not solve the remarkable Maryland goaltender. The Aviators had four power plays Friday night, but could not produce on any of them.
The Aviators will have the chance to quickly forget Friday’s performance when they faceoff against Maryland for the final time in the regular season on Saturday at 7 p.m. back inside the LECOM Event Center.
The game can be streamed on NATV and listened to on Big Foot Country Legends.
