Aviators’ Curtiss Sturgeon named to NAHL Top Prospects Tournament

The Elmira Aviators’ Curtiss Sturgeon has been named to the NAHL’s Top Prospects Tournament. The games are akin to the NHL All-Star game.

Sturgeon has led the way for Elmira with his scoring. He leads his team with 13 goals, including three on the power play and two short-handed.

“I’m very happy and very thankful to be selected,” Sturgeon said. “I’m excited to go down and show them what I got and represent the Aviators.”

Sturgeon felt destined for greatness on a team called the Aviators. His dad is an aviation mechanic who named Curtiss after the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk.

There are six teams at the Top Prospects Tournament: one for each division (East, Central, Midwest, South) and two at large “Selects” teams, Selects Gold and Selects Black. Sturgeon will be playing for Selects Black.

The tournament will be played at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI from Feb 17 to Feb. 18. Sturgeon and his Selects Black teammates will play the East at 4 p.m. on Feb. 17 and faceoff against the Central at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.

Those games will be available to stream live on NATV.
